My Wooftrek kit

Thank you for choosing Wooftrek. Here is how to get the most out of your three pieces — and one thing we would rather tell you straight.

The 3-in-1 bottle

Nobody works it out on the first try. The bowl does everything.

  1. Turn the bowl to the right and pull it off.
  2. Flip it over and pour the water into it.
  3. Press the button: the water goes from the bowl into the bottle.
  4. To give your dog a drink: same button, and the water comes back into the bowl.

The third compartment unscrews and carries kibble or treats.

What we would rather tell you right away

The reservoir is sealed. It does not unscrew and it does not open — so you cannot brush it out inside or dry it wide open. Our advice: fill it just before you leave, empty it when you get back, and rinse it with clean water while shaking it. Never let water sit in it between outings.

We could have said nothing. We would rather you heard it from us.

The harness

It is a Y-harness: the straps form a Y across the chest instead of a straight strap running over the shoulders. It is not a no-pull harness — it does not correct pulling, it spreads the load without blocking the shoulder.

The back handle is there to hold your dog steady or help him over an obstacle. The D-ring on the back takes the leash.

Fitting it properly: once tightened, you should be able to slide two flat fingers between the strap and the chest. Looser and it turns; tighter and it rubs.

Sizes

Size Chest girth Neck girth Dog weight
S 52 – 70 cm 46 – 56 cm 10 – 20 kg
M 60 – 80 cm 50 – 68 cm 20 – 30 kg
L 72 – 100 cm 62 – 80 cm 30 – 45 kg

Measure the chest girth behind the front legs, at the widest point. If you land exactly between two sizes, take the larger one: it is easier to tighten than to stretch. Measurements carry a 1 to 2 cm tolerance.

The hands-free leash

It is worn at the waist: both hands stay free to walk, run or hold a hiking pole. The cord absorbs the jolts. You can also hold it in your hand the usual way.

The law in Quebec, in one line

Since 3 March 2020: « La laisse doit être d'une longueur maximale de 1,85 m. Pour les chiens de 20 kg ou plus, la laisse doit être attachée à un harnais ou à un licou. » — the leash may be no longer than 1.85 m, and for dogs of 20 kg (44 lb) or more it must be attached to a harness or a head halter.
